Dear parents/guardians of current juniors,

A new state law effective July 1, 2021 requires one booster dose, at age 16 or older, of the Meningococcal vaccine for all rising 12th graders. This means all rising 12th graders MUST have received a dose of Meningococcal vaccine BEFORE they start 12th grade.

If your child has already received their vaccination, please send a copy of the vaccination record to the school. The types of Meningococcal vaccine accepted are: MenACYW (MCV4, quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate, Menactra, MenQuadfi, or Menveo.

Serogroup B meningococcal or Men B vaccines is an added vaccine your doctor may recommend for your child but DOES NOT fulfill the Meningococcal vaccine requirement needed for schools.

On April 23, 2026, the Middlesex Health Department will be coming to Middlesex High School to offer the required Meningococcal vaccine at no cost. In order for your child to be vaccinated at school, a Vaccination Consent Form must be filled out and returned to school by April 20, 2026. Copies of the consent forms will be sent home with your child on April 9 and April 10 through their English class. Consent forms are also available at the high school.

The health department asks that your child wear clothing that allows their arm to be easily accessible. If you have any questions feel free to contact our school nurse at kcrump@mcps.k12.va.us or 804-758-2132.

Graduation is fast approaching!

There is still time to submit photos of your senior for the graduation video. I am requesting:

One photo at approximately 1 year old
One photo at approximately 5 years old

The submission deadline is March 27.

The dance scheduled for Saturday, March 14th, has been cancelled due to low participation numbers. Students will be refunded their money this week. They can stop by the main office and see Mrs. Jarvis for their refund.

Can you believe March is here and only a little over 50 days before graduation?

That being said, it's time to start sending in photos of your senior for the graduation video!

Ms. Lewis in counseling is looking for a picture of your senior at 1 year old and another picture at 5 years old. For your convenience, you can email them directly to Ms. Lewis at jlewis@mcps.k12.va.us. The deadline is March 27th.

Senior 2026 Cap & Gown Pick Up will be Wednesday, March 18th from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at MHS. The cost of the cap & gown is $65. For those seniors who have not placed an order online, Jostens pre-ordered their cap and gown. Please call the school if you have any questions.

The writing SOL test will be given to juniors on Wednesday, 3/11/26, and Thursday, 3/12/26. Wednesday's test is the multiple choice component, and Thursday's test is the writing prompt component. The test will be given each day in the morning. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school at (804) 758-2132.

We were proud to host a dynamic Career Fair at Middlesex High School, where over 25 representatives shared their knowledge, experiences, and career pathways with our students. From local businesses to specialized industries, our students had the chance to explore a wide range of futures and ask meaningful questions about what comes next after graduation.

A special highlight? Welcoming back several of our very own MHS alumni who returned to pour into the next generation. There’s nothing more powerful than Chargers inspiring Chargers! 🐾💙

Thank you to every presenter who invested their time in our students’ futures. The possibilities are bright at MHS! ✨

February 28th is the last day to pre-order a yearbook. There is a link to pay online on the MHS website or you can pay by cash or check with Mrs. Chowning. We order a limited number of additional copies and have sold out the past few years. You must pre-order to be guaranteed a copy.

🎶 Student Spotlight | Extraordinary Achievement 🎶

Congratulations to Madeline Inge, a student at Middlesex High School, who has been selected to perform in the High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City!

Madeline will take the stage this weekend as a clarinetist with the Honors Band, an elite ensemble made up of the highest-rated young performers from around the world. Her acceptance followed a highly competitive audition and review by the Honors Selection Board—an honor that reflects her exceptional talent, dedication, and musical achievements.

Madeline has studied music for more than four years and is an active member of the Middlesex High School Concert Band, Marching Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band, where she also shines as a guitarist. Beyond music, she’s involved in Key Club and the Technology Student Association, serving as secretary.

“I’m honored to have been nominated and selected. I look forward to seeing New York and playing at Carnegie Hall,” Madeline shared.

We are incredibly proud of Madeline and can’t wait to cheer her on as she represents Middlesex High School on one of the world’s most iconic stages! 👏🎼

📚✨ Field Trip Spotlight: Shaping the Future of Our Public Library! ✨📚

Our students recently visited the Middlesex Library for an engaging, hands-on experience—and they absolutely showed up with thoughtful ideas and leadership! Huge thanks to Carrie Dos Santos for welcoming us and guiding students through the library and the exciting plans for the new Teen Center.

Students toured the space, collaborated on selecting teen-friendly furniture, and brainstormed programs they’d actually love—everything from book clubs, crafts, and games to real-life skills sessions like car maintenance 🚗📖. They also shared recommendations for new books, authors, and genres for the Young Adult Library, all of which Mrs. Dos Santos plans to order right away!

We also learned about amazing library resources like Libby, Homework HelpNow, and Transparent Language, and made sure students are on track with active library cards.

Their voices are directly influencing new books, programs, and even furniture—and this is just the beginning! We’re excited to continue this partnership and look forward to students helping design future Teen Centers in both Deltaville and Urbanna. 👏📚
